GEN 7 Wines 2014 Pinot Noir
Our 2014 Pinot Noir is quite unique. In this video, winemaker Tim Bacino describes more about how he started developing the Burgundian-style Pinot Noir that we carry.
The grapes come from Clark & Telephone Vineyard, which is located near the corner of Clark Avenue and Telephone Road in the Santa Maria Valley. The area where this beautiful vineyard lays is cooled by the ongoing ocean breeze and fog that comes in from the Pacific Ocean.
This cool climate lends itself for longer ripening, longer-harvest and the end result is vines with complex fruit, perfect acidity, and a flavor profile that can only be found in this part of the world. Dropping 30% of the fruit allows the vines to produce clusters that are small but filled with intensely flavored berries, which yields dense, dark fruit and rich sweet holiday spice characteristics that this particular clone expresses.
Pinot Noir is a wine grape that is widely grown in California, and is known for producing wines that are elegant, complex, and often compared to those of Burgundy, France. The grape is particularly suited to cooler climates, and California’s coastal regions provide ideal growing conditions for Pinot Noir.
One of California's most renowned Pinot Noir regions is the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County. The area is located close to the coast, and its cool, foggy climate is perfect for producing grapes with high acidity and rich, complex flavors. Our 2014 Pinot Noir has hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and raspberry.
The Central Coast region of California is another area where Pinot Noir thrives. The region encompasses a wide range of sub-regions, each with its own unique climate and growing conditions.
Pinot Noir is a grape that is particularly sensitive to its growing conditions, and the climate, soil, and vineyard management practices can all significantly impact the resulting wine. As a result, there is a great deal of diversity when it comes to California Pinot Noir, with each region and producer crafting unique wines that reflect their terroir.
In conclusion, California Pinot Noir is a world-renowned wine that is grown in a variety of regions throughout the state. Whether you are a fan of the elegant, complex wines of the Russian River Valley, the delicate and fruit-forward wines of the Central Coast, or the earthy and spicy wines of Santa Barbara, we believe that our 2014 Pinot Noir is sure to please your pallet.
